China Factory Inspection Checklist
A factory inspection is most useful when it follows a written standard agreed before production. This checklist helps buyers turn an approved sample into clear quality-control checks.
Before the inspection
- Keep an approved sample, product specification, artwork, and packaging reference.
- Confirm order quantity, inspection date, and when goods will be substantially complete.
- Define critical defects and the acceptable standard for minor issues.
Product checks
Inspect materials, colours, workmanship, dimensions, functionality, logo placement, and any product-specific requirements. Compare random units with the approved sample; do not inspect only the factory’s chosen “best” unit.
Packaging and labelling checks
Check retail packaging, inserts, barcodes, warning labels, units per carton, carton marks, carton dimensions, and carton condition. These details affect both customer experience and warehouse acceptance.
Quantity and documentation
Count finished goods and cartons, record defects with photographs, and document the inspection outcome. If issues are found, agree the corrective action and re-check the affected goods before the final balance or shipment release.
